MEXICO CITY, July 30 (Reuters) - Mexico's finance ministry said on Friday the Mexican economy likely grew about 7 percent during the second quarter from a year earlier.
Mexico is rebounding from a 2008-2009 recession but its downturn was so deep it will likely not fully recover until at least next year.
The ministry also said Mexico's public sector posted a 97.9 billion peso ($7.75 billion) budget deficit during June. Mexico had posted a 12.4 billion peso budget deficit in May .
Over the first half of the year, the government has run a 101.7 billion peso deficit.
The government projected a deficit of 2.8 percent of gross domestic product for this year in its 2010 budget. The country's 6.5 percent economic contraction in 2009 was its worst since 1932.
The deficit totaled 275 billion pesos last year, equivalent to 2.3 percent of GDP.
